The 2011 Senior Film Showcase was hosted by actress Jenna Elfman and held on the evening of May 4th at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Goldenson Theatre. The four films that were showcased (in the 35mm format) were “If We Don’t Go” (Director: Adam Ramirez), “Absolution” (Director: Aaron Blum), “Giddyup, Grandma!” (Director: Travis Marlatt) and “Carousel” (Director: Nicole Owen). The senior directors all have the distinction of being Hollywood Foreign Press Association Fellows.
A California State University, Northridge Cinematheque Award was given to Jenna Elfman, who was a former CSUN student. Ms. Elfman won a Golden Globe Award for her role as Dharma on the hit ABC series Dharma & Greg from 1997 to 2002. She also starred in such feature films as Keeping the Faith with Ben Stiller and Edward Norton, EDtv with Matthew McConaughey, and Krippendorf’s Tribe with fellow CSUN alumnus Richard Dreyfuss. A short retrospective on Ms. Elfman’s career was shown that evening.
Pat Grosswendt also accepted a CSUN Cinematheque Award for Litepanels for the donation of $60,000 of new revolutionary LED lighting technology to the film production program.
