APLE Loan Forgiveness
The Assumption Program of Loans for Education (APLE) is funded by the State of California to assist full time teachers with repayment of student loans. Applicants are encouraged to apply during their final semester of student teaching.
In order to qualify and receive full benefits, applicants must obtain an initial teaching credential and provide four full-time, or on a part-time basis for the equivalent of four (4) full-time academic consecutive, or its equivalent, school years in teaching service area in an eligible California school.
Qualified applicants must teach subject areas where a critical teacher shortage has been identified, or teach in a designated school that meets criteria established by the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Designated schools include those that:
- serve a large population of students from low-income families
