Unlike loans, Grants do NOT have to be repaid (except TEACH Grant if you do not meet the teaching service requirements). Students must meet eligibility requirements for federal student aid and they must demonstrate financial need for all grant programs . California State University Grants and other State Grants are limited to California Residents only. Application procedures for these grants may require additional forms aside from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and the funds for these awards may be available only on a limited basis.

FEDERAL GRANTS:
Federal Pell Grants are available to students working on their first undergraduate degree with one exception. Teacher credential candidates who maintain half-time enrollment status at the 5th year undergraduate level (6 units) may also be eligible. Federal annual awards limits for Pell Grant are affected by factors such as an applicant’s Expected Family Contribution (EFC), enrollment period and enrollment units. Students cannot receive a Pell Grant at two schools for the same term.
Special NOTE about Federal Pell Grant Eligibility for Credential Students:
To receive a Federal Pell grant, you must be pursuing your first credential and remain enrolled in at least 6 units of credential coursework required for your credential completion. If you are not enrolled in and maintain at least 6 units of required credential coursework, your Federal Pell grant will be canceled and you may be billed for the funds you received. The Financial Aid & Scholarship Department will review your class enrollment prior to the release of funds. This process may delay your disbursement of funds.
