Students and/or parents may be able to submit an Income Appeal form starting September 26th if student's or parental income is drastically less in 2011 than 2010 because of unusual circumstances such as a natural disaster, change in marital status, loss or reduction in income. Students and/or parents may appeal to the Financial Aid & Scholarship Department to use 2011 actual and/or estimated income in determining financial aid eligibility.
Students may also submit an appeal for a possible increase to Cost of Attendance if there are unusually high "out of pocket"/unreimbursed expenses such as medical/dental, elementary or secondary school tuition expenses for legal dependents, high transportation expenses because of long commute to CSUN, or for a one-time computer purchase.
Please note all Income Appeals and Cost of Attendance Appeals require supporting documentation verifying current year income or the unusually high out of pocket unreimbursed expenses. Additional information and instructions regarding required documentation will be provided on the appeal forms.
Income Appeals will NOT be accepted if the following applies because it will NOT change your aid eligibility:
- Your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) is $0.
- You are a 2nd BA degree student who has been offered $5500 in subsidized Stafford loans.
- You are a Master's degree or Doctoral student who has been offered $8500 in subsidized Stafford loans.
- You are a 2nd Credential student, or are enrolled in an Intern Credential program and offered $5500 Subsidized Stafford loan.
