INFORMATION ABOUT SUBMITTING DOCUMENTATION
OF YOUR ELIGIBLE CITIZENSHIP/NON-CITIZENSHIP STATUS
- Based on the information provided on your application, you must provide either proof of U.S. Citizenship or documentation of Eligible Non-Citizenship status.
- You must submit two copies of both sides of the documentation (such as a Form I-151, Form I-551, Form I-94, a Certificate of Naturalization, a Certificate of Citizenship) either in person or by mail. Be sure that your photocopies are clear and readable. If there is an expiration date on your document, the date must be 8/23/2010 or later to be valid for your current financial aid application.
- As required by Federal Law, this office will send the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) a copy of the documentation submitted to officially verify your eligible non-citizen status.
- If there is no picture on your document or if the picture on your document was taken when you were 14 years old or younger, you must also provide a copy of a valid driver's license (or other valid photo identification).
- If you have applied under the Federal Amnesty Program, you must submit two copies of Form I-688 to verify that your legal residency has been approved by INS to receive federal funds.
- If you are now a U.S. Citizen and became a citizen after you received your Social Security Card, go to the Social Security Administration, provide them your updated U.S. Citizenship status, and request a duplicate Social Security Card.
- If you have questions about the request for immigration documentation, contact the Financial Aid & Scholarship Department immediately. Delays in submitting this information will delay the processing of your application for financial aid.
