NECP - Nurse Educator

Overview of the Program

CSUN Nursing is pleased to announce the
offering of a Post-Baccalaureate Nurse Educator
Certificate Program (NECP). The main
objective of the NECP is to enhance the core
competencies of nurse educators and
increase the knowledge, experience and
teaching skills of current or future nursing
educators. This certificate program will serve
an area of specialization of the Master of
Science in Nursing (MSN) program once the

MSN is developed. The courses will count
towards academic credit at CSUN and
possibly at other institutions if students
choose to pursue a graduate degree.

The Nurse Educator Certificate Program
(NECP) consists of five courses (15 units)
of learning-centered course content
focused on methods/theory/practice of
classroom and clinical teaching and
instruction and on leadership and faculty
role development. The 15 units courses
will be offered over three semesters. Each
course is composed of three (3) units.
Graduates of the Nurse Educator Certificate
Program can use these courses
toward a Master’s of Science in Nursing
and are also qualified academically to
take the Educator Certification Examination
of the National League for Nursing
(NLN, 2010).
